Today was a pretty uneventful day. I have lost all motivation at work. I graded four literary essays in about two and half hours. Not good. I HAVE to get through them soon. I’ve cleaned my office and started boxing up things that I don’t need at school. That’s been my achievement of the week. I’ve graded all incoming work, as well as tests and projects during the last week. I just can’t get motivated to get through these essays. My goal is to have them all done by Tuesday when I see my freshmen again; I have 30 left…so maybe 5 tomorrow, 15 on Sunday, and 5 on Monday. We’ll see if I stick to it. My other achievement of the day was getting internet and cable set up for the house in St. Louis. I’m going to go with U-Verse. Since the internet is my only way of staying in touch with Mark, I want to make sure I have it!
I had a good chat with Mark, even though he was tired. I feel like we’re finally getting into a routine. I come home, make dinner, and we talk around 5:30/6 p.m. Of course, those times and my routine will shift when I move to St. Louis since there is an hour time change and I don’t know what I am doing on the job front; it’s a routine for the next three weeks in D.C. anyway.
It’s hard to believe that I have only three Friday nights left. That means only three weekends left. And I still want to go to the National Mall and Newseum once more before I leave. I have a feeling that it may not happen until Memorial Day weekend though; somehow I managed to do just what I needed—I’ve made my weekends pretty busy.
Tomorrow I have my Basic Knife Skills class. I’m very intrigued to see how it goes. Mark loved it; he’s much more natural in the kitchen than me. I feel like I have to really think about how to do everything. Mark said they go slow and that the guy is a good teacher; I’m just nervous. My dad was a butcher though; I should know how to use knives, right?
Other plans for the weekend besides grading and learning how to properly use knives—date night with Mark tomorrow night, a trip to Waldorf to grade and to get my jewelry inspected, some reading of Three Cups of Tea, some crocheting, and maybe even retaking my lesson one of German on Rossetta Stone.
