To prepare for Mark’s parents’ visit, we decided to use this weekend to do a few things to the house that we’ve been talking about doing for forever. We took down the ugly base housing lighting fixture in the dining room and put up a Tiffany style stained glass fixture instead. (Keep in mind that we still have at least six o the identical base fixtures. I think they were $12 a piece at Home Depot.)
We painted our upstairs hallway and guest bathroom (which is my bathroom, too. I know. I decided to be a permanent guest when I saw how small the shower stall was in the master bathroom.)
We also did a bit of touch-up painting. It’s amazing what a little paint can do.
Everyone walks into our place and tells us it doesn’t look like a base house…all you have to do is actually invest some time in making it feel like your home. =) We had some military friends over this past weekend, and we once again heard it: “This doesn’t look like a base house” and “You’re house feels so homey.” Yay!
