Week seven…growing from a lentil to a blueberry!

So, we made some announcements at the beginning of this week. We decided to tell Mark’s siblings because of Meggie’s wedding. They’re all very excited.

It’s funny…week five my chest hurt and I was exhausted. Week six, I was starving. This week I have a constant upset stomach and just want to sleep it off again instead of being awake. I’m not vomiting or anything that extreme yet. I keep nibbling on trail mix to keep my stomach stable even though I’m not really hungry. The taste of food is sporadic…sometimes I like it and sometimes I don’t.

My acupuncturist has continue to tell me that my pulse is good…I learned that she can tell from a patient’s pulse whether we’re pregnant or not. Of course, she has to have worked with them prior to the pregnancy to feel the difference. I think it’s all just so intriguing. And I’m hoping my upset stomach means the baby is another sign that the almost blueberry is doing great.

In one week, I have my ultrasound. I can’t even begin to describe how excited and terrified I am of it. I’m worried that there is going to be a problem…that we won’t detect a heartbeat or Dr. Carter will find something wrong. I’m also nervous that everything will be OK and she’ll find twins. It’s intimidating to see the heartbeat and know that something alive is growing inside of me and that in less than eight months my life is going to change dramatically.

The dilemma this week is what to do about my upcoming job interviews in San Antonio. Here’s what I think I’ve decided. I’m not going to do anything until after the ultrasound next week. If I am having twins, I’m not going to interview at all. If I’ve got just one healthy baby inside of me, I’m going to call the principals, and I’m going to tell them and if they won’t interview me, then I know I don’t really want to be at their school.
