So, I know my days of getting to be crafty are limited if I get accepted into a doctoral program. (Fingers still crossed.) Hours on Etsy, Pinterest, and various shopping websites have been inspiring me with things I want to make for Emma.
I’ve always loved the Pottery Barn Kids Easter baskets, and initially, I wasn’t going to do a basket this year. I figured how many five and half month olds remember their first Easter? But, I was inspired…so after a trip to Hobby Lobby and a trip to Gromes to buy a new sewing machine I was set to finish the jumper I made for Emma. (I’m still cursing the crappy Singer I bought at Target…still hoping I can get some of my money back on that one…it was going to cost more to fix it than I paid for it…and I doubt I used it a dozen times).
I finished the button holes for the jumper in a manner of minutes on the new machine, and then freehanded a pattern for her Easter basket liner based on the Pottery Barn liners I loved. I have to admit, I’m rather proud of how well it turned out. The letters are actually iron on ones that look like monogrammed letters. I’m glad I decided to make it this year…I was surprised how excited she was to play with it, the bunnies from Grandma Ohls and Grandma Bev, and the empty eggs. Everything went into the mouth…a sure sign of Emma’s seal of approval. 🙂
As many know, we fondly call Emma “B” for her middle name, Bridget. Coincidentally, one of the first pajama outfits we bought and put her in had a bee on the front and a bee on the but. Mark was especially attached to his B wearing the bee, so when she outgrew her jammies, we bought the same one a size larger. When she outgrew the 3 month size, I found a double pack of bee jammies…hat included. I’m now on a mission to make her something cute with the bee material I bought on Hobby Lobby. Pillowcase dress, jumper, other type of dress…the possibilities are endless. I need to find a good complimentary material to go with it yet. Suggestions with links to cute dress/clothes ideas are welcomed.
