The last week has really been an interesting week. I had my first fire in my fireplace. I’ve done a ton of crocheting. It was a good work week. And I think I have a new job opportunity for the spring. I can’t share what it is yet, but I’m really excited and feel like I’ll be challenged a lot by it. Plus, I think it will have decent pay, which is always good.

I overheard the boys say that I was a good teacher during our writing workshop lab on Friday. They said it quietly, and I don’t expect that I was supposed to overhear it. Their writing has improved tremendously; I really am proud of them.

Last week, I had my first acupuncture treatment for fertility stuff. It wasn’t scary at all. I asked to not see the needles. It was very relaxing, and my body felt tingly all day after it. I can’t explain it any more than that. My stress level definitely has definitely been lower. I have another treatment this coming week and next week.

My friend Katie (who recommended my acupuncturist) lent me a book about fertility and traditional Chinese medicine. It’s fascinating stuff. The book is called “The Fertility Cure” by Randine Lewis, Ph.D. I wanted to know more about why acupuncture seems to work for so many women. Traditional Chinese medicine is just a whole other way of thinking about ourselves and bodies. In many ways, I think it’s easier to understand and buy into because I see how the idea of an internal energy can also work with spirituality. I’m just trying to think about how Eastern and Western medicine can work together. I’m just so very intrigued!

Anyway, it’s going to be a busy week of meetings, grading, and work. And only 13 days until Mark is home. “Excited” doesn’t even describe how I feel about that!
