A Thanksgiving to remember

Thanksgiving this year was bittersweet. I loved getting to use the china grandma gave me. I loved having part of my Clancy family over, but I’m not going to lie. It was hard not having Mark and my dad here.

We had fun playing Rock Band, and the day was going great, and then everything just hit me. I don’t know if is the fact that I took progesterone for five days earlier this week, that it feels like the deployment and distance is getting harder, or the fact that it’s the first time I’ve celebrated Thanksgiving in St. Louis without my dad. Whatever it was, it was not my best moment. I just snuck upstairs and cried. Thank God for my sister Mary and niece Erin. They helped salvage the night and pull me out of my funk.

Now, the house is decorated for Christmas. Mark is home in three weeks. I start my fertility stuff again this month. I’ve scheduled a massage and my first round of acupuncture next week. (Numerous friends have told me that doing acupuncture is what helped them get pregnant. Research isn’t sure what the reason is for the success. Some think it’s because it helps with stress, and others think it’s because the blood flow helps create a better endometrial lining in the uterus. Whatever reason it is, I’ll take it.) I’m trying very hard to take care of myself in the next few weeks–relaxation, prayer, happy thoughts, healthy food, exercise. Fingers crossed.
