Love my life

So I am not even sure what I did today, but it flew by. Mark is flying tonight, so I spent all morning grading while Liam slept and while Mark and Emma ran errands.

Mark and I worked on putting part of our new entertainment center together while the kids napped. (Well, Emma was in her room…she didn’t actually nap until way after we put her to bed.) We have the sides of the entertainment center together. I have more to stain, and then it’s just putting the pieces together. Our garage is a total mess so I really admire Mark for doing all of this without a legitimate tool bench and work space. It is going to look AMAZING when it is done. And Mark is getting really good at all of this. It’ll be neat to have so much furniture that he made in our house!

I swoon over new school supplies! We're getting so busy I have to color code everyone now!

I spent most of the afternoon playing with Liam, making dinner, yelling at Emma (threenager was out of control tonight), and setting up my new calendar.  I know plenty of people LOVE using calendars on their phones. I don’t mind accessing information there, but I just love the ability to write down and scratch off things in my paper calendar. My school life and Emma’s school life have been loaded.

I let the kids watch some Sesame Street tonight. Emma will sit and watch TV for hours if we let her. It was my saving grace when we lived in Texas. I’d cram a shower and as much homework as I could do into an hour of TV because I knew she wouldn’t leave the room. Liam, on the other hand, doesn’t care about it at all. I know that is actually a good thing; doctors don’t recommend TV for young kids, but Emma learned so much from PBS and  I was able to keep my sanity. It’s tough with LP sometimes because I don’t have anything that will captivate his interest for 10-15 minutes at a time. Prepping for meals, doing schoolwork, and grabbing a shower are hard if he is awake.

I haven’t played with the good camera since Sunday when I took Father’s Day pics. I didn’t have to work too hard to get this one. I got a lot of great shots, and some that would have been amazing weren’t framed well since I was bouncing around with a sheep on my head to get Liam to look at the camera. Like always, Emma was the challenging one. I only got a few of her actually looking. I have some great shots of Mark and Liam solo. These kids just adore him. I am so lucky to have a great partner in parenting. We don’t have gender roles in our house, and it definitely makes us unique in the military world because of that. Mark gets a lot of looks when he tells people he’s the main cook.

All day I’ve been thinking about great my life is. We had to work so hard for these two munchkins, and it was worth every surgery and shot. The world needed Mark to be a dad, and anyone who sees the adoration in these kids eyes when he enters the room will know how much the love him.

My three LOVES

My three LOVES

I took this picture with my phone today. The good camera didn’t make an appearance. As frustrated as I was with this girl for a few hours today, I love how sassy she can be and how unique her style is. (Today, she wore her new superhero t-shirt, jean shorts, and her cowboy boots. And just so you know…they ARE cowboy boots…not cowgirl boots.)

Her bedtime story was about the Avengers. She wanted me to read the story about Cyclops. (I didn’t know there was a superhero named Cyclops…I was pleasantly surprised it at least had ties in characteristics to the Cyclops in mythology.) Emma is brilliant. And its her brilliance that frustrates the heck out of us. I love that she is crafting her own sense of style, though. I am a very lucky mommy to have this girl in my life. So, without further ado, my favorite pic I took today.
