A pretty long hiatus

August 2014. That’s the last time I blogged. I think I’ve written for me maybe twice since then in my journal. That’s it. And you know what? That is HORRIBLE!

I vowed on January 1st, 2015 that I was going to write once a week. What happened? I wrote in my journal that first week. And nothing since. Until now. New look on the blog, and I’m hoping that inspires me to better document our lives.

Life as a mom has been hard lately. Work has been insane. Extra work at my full-time job. Lots of unprepared students in my online jobs. Trying to find balance…as always.

Screen Shot 2015-02-03 at 9.26.02 PMIn my spare moments, I soak in times like this one. I love my job as a teacher, but watching these two grow and become friends. I love watching Emma make Liam giggle. I love watching them play. He adores her. And I think she adores him.

So what’s happened since my last blog? These two got BIGGER. Although, Emma will tell you she doesn’t want to get bigger. She wants to be three. The last few weeks were huge for both of them. Liam got his first tooth on February 1st. We can’t see it yet, but we can feel it. Number two is almost through.

Emma is toilet-trained for number one. Still working on number two. Out of nowhere, she decided that she wasn’t scared of the big toilet anymore. Or she had to really, really pee and we didn’t have a diaper. I’m not sure which.

And biggest news of the year. We decided to become Marylanders. That’s right. Mark and T who always said they would move back to the Lou fell in love again with the Washington, DC area. We’re building our dream home about 45 minutes south of the District.

My life has been consumed with creating Pinterest pages navigating every facet of the house. In between grading, planning, grading, feeding Liam, and grading. Yeah…I know. There’s not a lot of Mark and T in there. We’re working on it, though. Being parents is exhausting. Hiring babysitters for date nights is expensive. But we’re trying to put aside work and put the kids to bed so we can have us time.

So, I’m trying to be back. We’ll see how it goes. I miss writing, though, and I love having a document of our lives.
