We had hoped to go to the 1st Heli playgroup this morning, but no one was able to make it. Emma is bit under the weather with a head cold, and Liam has had some minor spit ups (totally unusual for him) today, so it’s probably better we stayed home. Plus, Liam had a rough night again last night so I am down three hours of sleep. I opted to work out in the thirty minutes break I had while both kids were napping, so I’m beat tonight. Here’s what we did today, though…hopefully you’ll see I’m learning some new things in Lightroom and playing a lot with editing in my photography. I’m not a pro yet, but if I keep this up, I should have everything down this summer. These were all taken using my new 50 mm lens.
Emma wanted to paint canvas for daddy with handprints. We’re going to add another color Of course, we had to start with purple. It’s her favorite.
Liam was napping during all of this. He was up again last night from 2 a.m. to 5 a.m. I thought it was teeth again or that he was getting into a bad habit, enjoying this night time attention from mom and dad, but now I think he may have a cold of some sorts, too. Anyway, Emma takes her painting VERY seriously.
Aunt Perri taught Emma is was OK to get super messy when painting when we were in St. Louis a few years ago. She never forgot it. She wanted a bath after this, but I just made her clean herself at the sink. You make the mess. You clean it up.
I was a bit sad that she decided to make a big purple blob on this canvas. She had such cool handprints everywhere. Now, they are only on the outside. We’ll add more color to it tomorrow.
Emma was testing me seriously this morning. This is her “I’m trying to get away with this” look. I told her not to spill crayons. I told her to wear a shirt. I told her to keep them away from Liam. You see she didn’t listen at all.
Liam likes being artsy…you just have to watch him. He likes to eat crayons, too.
This is the “Mom, I am really not listening to you” look.” Crayons on the head…not OK. She ended up in timeout after this. And had to get dressed.
Crayons were EVERYWHERE.
I just love this look. He was so proud of himself…he turned on Emma’s camera.
Of course, since Emma was in her room for timeout, LP wanted to go upstairs, too.
Emma came down with this shirt on. She never wore it before. It was my shirt from when I was little. My mom made it for me.
She made this face when I told her it was my shirt.
During my workout today, I watched a few Lightroom tutorials. I played with a lot of effects in these photos. I love Emma’s eyes here.
And I love her smile here.
Of course, LP is my awesome model, too.
A few things about this. It is the first time I have seen Emma play dress up with Liam. Poor boy should probably get used to it. Here, he’s wearing her bunny as cape. He’s lucky she’s into superheroes and not Barbies. In this picture, Liam looks SOO much like my sister Colleen when we were younger. There’s a picture of us at about these ages, and she is making the exact same face.
So…Liam likes using utensils. But he doesn’t like to use them the right way.
I’m lucky he’s so happy-go-lucky…or he’d be pissed he can’t pick up the apple. Instead, this kid smiles because he’s making contact with the fork and the food.
In the midst of everything today, I did a lot of art. I started working on making dinosaur canvases for Liam’s new room. I also bought these letters at Walmart and painted them for his new room, too. As a second child, LP gets nothing. I was hoping he’d get these gifted to him since Emma scored three…poor kid.
One of Liam’s favorite things to do lately is play with this piano and hum. In case you didn’t know, our life is a musical. Emma sings non-stop. Like seriously. She sings all. day. long. I think Liam is preparing to join in. He hummed and was on pitch.
Liam also likes to try and do somersaults lately. He needs help going over, but chances are you’ll see him doing this a few times each day.
He also enjoys reading books and flipping the pages. Tonight, he was reading Frankenstein. A kid after my own heart.
