So last week, I bought my package of five sewing classes as part of my Mother’s Day present. I’m going to my first class tonight, but just to make sure I remembered how to do some things, I decided to make a dress for Emma. It’s a size 3 with my pattern, and the pattern is a bit goofy. It’s super short even for my shorty, so I had to add another row of material to lengthen it. I tried something new with this, too. Instead of having the bows of a pillowcase dress on the back, I decided to put the ribbon in the back. It just works better on Emma’s petite stature. I can’t wait until she is big enough to make this dress work!
I’m using the flower pattern for the dress I am making at class tonight. I decided to try and make Emma a headband using the pattern I found on the Happy Together Creates site. One of her fans created the pattern in kid sizes. It’s in German, though, so I had to have my niece help with the translation to make sure I didn’t miss anything important! I’m almost finished with that, so hopefully I’ll have another dress and matching headband to show off tomorrow.
I promised myself that each day I would try to have something special for Emma to do. A pre- pre-school of sorts. Today, I let her dive into the paints for the first time. She’s played with paint at daycare but only once at home, and that was a year ago when we were trying to make gifts for her grandmas.
Emma wasn’t sure what to do with the paint. She didn’t initially like getting her fingers in it, so I had to pull out the paint brush. Her artwork with the brush is on the left. She saw I had more paint colors and was asking for me to open them so I opened a few more, and as she got comfortable with the paint, she decided whole hands in the paint was fun. The one on the left is from her handprints and finger painting.
OK…Emma wants mom to cuddle with her while she watches Super Grover. I promised myself that I’d never say no to that, so signing off! If you are interested in the headbands, be sure to check out those links!
