It is so hard for me to believe that Emma is nine months old. I felt like I was pregnant for forever, and the last nine months have just flown by. We had her nine-month wellness check-up today. She’s still small, but she’s been steady in her growth, despite that. She’s just shy of 17 pounds, which puts her into the 18th percentile for weight. (She’s moved up, actually…she was only the 16th percentile at her six-month check-up.) She’s in the 30th percentile for height and head circumference. She was off the charts for her motor skills and above average for social and personal. Apparently, she needs to get one more word out…”mama” and “baba” aren’t enough. She said “dada” the day before father’s day, but she hasn’t really said it much lately. She’s taken more to calling Mark “baba”. She’s cruising and crawling around the living room. I think it will be just a matter of weeks until she walks since she can stand on her for a good amount of time.
Other recent milestones: going under water in the pool (without crying), trying to swim (using her crawling motion), being able to jump up and down (aka dance for Emma) while holding onto something, and eating more table food.
It’s hard to believe that if Mark didn’t get deployed to Iraq, this little girl wouldn’t be in our lives. A day doesn’t go by without me thinking of what a miracle she is. I love, love, love this little girl!
