Playdates and pre-school and siding, oh my!

20150609-20150609-DSC_8122If every day is like today, this summer is going to fly by. We had a playdate this morning with Emma and Liam’s daycare provider/our friend, Montana. It was so much fun to watch Emma play with her friends. The boys (and yes, she has no friends who are girls) were so excited to see there. My little girl in her homemade Star Wars skirt was sitting under the rock climbing part of the playground digging in the wood chips and mud with the boys looking for worms. Hearing them all scream, “Emma’s here!” was adorable. These are the things I miss out on during the school year, but I know if I was a stay-at-home mom Emma would never have made the friends she has today.

After play date, we ran down south to her new school to turn in some paperwork. I mentioned to the principal that Emma was nervous about starting school. The principal invited her down to her classroom, which was open so she could play in it. She loved it. I know she is sad to leave her friends next year, but she is just going to thrive in the Montessori program. And I love the principal. She is just fantastic and so good with both the students and parents.

I got to play in Lightroom a bit today and experiment since that is my goal for the summer…I’m trying to shoot everything in manual and learn my way around editing in Lightroom. It’s so much nicer than Photoshop, although I haven’t been able to really figure out how shooting in RAW makes a difference yet. Liam woke up before Emma, and he was being cute so I got some fun shots of him today.

The big new on the house front is we now have interior walls (so drywall is up!) and all of the siding is there. They have been working on the well for our water, our gas for our stove was set up today, and they have all the stone for our fireplace and the front of our house.

I am hoping the new house looks like this...except with our board and batten shutters!

I’m betting that’s all done by Sunday and that they have started round one of painting the interior. I’m still not sure if they’ll have it ready by July 6, but I can’t wait to move in. I’m so so so excited to be in our new home. I can’t wait to see what adventure we have tomorrow!

I am not in love with the green, and that scares me but when I compared daylight photos that I sent to Mark, it's the exact same color as the one I love...so I am hoping I love it when I see the finished product!

Afterthought: Best moments of today.

1. Watching Liam’s whole body shake when Mark came home. (He had been gone for a few days.)

2. Liam guiding us into the bathroom, to the bathtub, and gesturing wildly, asking for a bath. When Mark turned on the water, his little butt and legs just wiggled with excitement. It was adorable.

3. Watching Emma’s amazing dance moves in her pre- bedtime dance party. AMAZING.

4. Emma spiderman kissing Liam goodnight.

5. Realizing I have an amazing life…an amazing husband, precious children who make me so happy, and a job where I get to spend time with my kids in the summer 🙂 Life is good.
