What I’ve learned recently

  1. My sister Mary Pat is right. Life is 10 percent what happens to you and 90 percent how you react to it.
  2. Life is too short to hold grudges.
  3. I’m really proud of myself for how much I have been working out, and I love my Garmin that Mark got me for my birthday so I can track it. If I wasn’t having surgery tomorrow, I’d be on pace for 50 miles this month between the elliptical and running.
Swimming is really hard. Or, learning how to breathe and swim is really hard…but I’m going to learn how to do it at my swim lessons in the next seven weeks. Don’t think you are too old to overcome your fears!
  4. I am feeling better now that I am working out. Who knew? Endorphins really help with stress.
  5. Making new friends is fun and hanging out with life-long friends is fun.
I’m so lucky to be good friends with my siblings-in-law. I love all of my in-laws.
  6. I wouldn’t be able to make it through this deployment without my dogs. I love my Darcy and Scout.
  7. I’ve become a decent cook with Mark gone and am even looking at taking more cooking lessons. Can you believe it?
  8. I’m terrified about tomorrow’s surgeries, but I have to keep telling myself that the hysteroscopy and laparoscopy may be what I need to successfully get pregnant. It’s all for an Emma and Jake!
  9. And last but not least, I’m so thankful for Skype. I’ve been so lucky to get to talk to Mark every day. I get to see him again just 94 days. I’m so glad for double digits. I’m so luck to have him  as my best friend. And as great as Skype is, I really wish he was going to be with me tomorrow and that he could hold my hand. Positive thoughts though…almost five months down, and only seven to go. If I include the pre-deployment training, I’m almost nine months down and only seven months to go…I sure don’t take any second we have together for granted anymore.
